Artist statement
Sofia Kechidzhieva is a visual artist whose work moves through states of
vulnerability, power, and memory, shaped by the human impulse to interpret,
contain, and make sense of its own existence. Working primarily with ceramics
and collage, she engages processes of fragmentation, layering, and material
tension, allowing form itself to carry psychological weight.
Born in 2003 in Sofia, Bulgaria, the artist is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
in Interior Design at New Bulgarian University, alongside a minor in Ceramics.
Since enrolling, she has participated in multiple group exhibitions organized by
the university as well as independent exhibition projects.
Her practice began in graphic art, and in 2023 she illustrated the book “Les
Gaudrioles” by French writer Xavier Monnet. Since then, her work has expanded
into the three-dimensional realm, with ceramics emerging as her primary
medium.
