The Siberian bear-hunting suit is a nineteenth-century form of protective armour associated primarily with Russian hunters and designed to withstand close encounters with bears. Other theories, informed by the suit's extreme rigidity and weight, suggest it may have served more stationary purposes, such as bear-baiting in Shakespearean England.
